Planning Commission Adoption

The Shelby Township Planning Commission will consider adoption of the new Master Plan on Monday, October 12 at 7:00 pm.  The meeting will take place at the Shelby Municipal Building located at 52700 Van Dyke.

The draft plan is available for download by clicking here, and also may be examined at the Planning and Zoning Department in the Municipal Building between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.  Written comments may be submitted to the Planning Commission prior to the meeting, and oral comments will be heard during the meeting.

The next and final step in the process will be Township Board approval of the Master Plan.  The Township Board will review the plan, and can approve it, or refer it back to the Planning Commission for further study or revisions.

The next step in the process is for the Township Board to distribute the first draft for comments to other government agencies and neighboring communities.  We will also be holding a Master Plan Public Open House on August 19 at Township Hall for members of the community and any other interested parties to provide us with input on the plan.  After a two-month comment period the Township will begin the official plan adoption process, starting with a public hearing before the Planning Commission.

The Shelby Township Planning Commission will be holding a master plan study meeting at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 18.  The meeting will be held at the Municipal Building in the Lobby Conference Room.  The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the character/land use and implementation sections of the Master Plan.

The Shelby Township Planning Commission will be holding a master plan study meeting at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 19.  The meeting will be held at the Municipal Building in the Lobby Conference Room.  The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the results of the public input workshop held on October 29, and to discuss the goals and objectives chapter of the master plan.
