Assistant Planner

Ashley Jankowski

Ashley is an Assistant Planner who joined Mckenna in 2024. She provides support to a wide range of planning projects including public engagement, comprehensive planning, zoning ordinances, and site plan review.

Ashley is skilled in managing interdisciplinary planning projects that uplift community priorities and creatively reduce barriers to public participation. An avid writer and listener, she practices storytelling throughout her planning work to support positive, place-based narrative building and the nourishment of community identity. Prior to becoming a planner, Ashley worked in environmental data management and sustainability strategy where she developed the capacities of cities and campuses to respond to climate change within diverse socioeconomic landscapes.

Ashley holds a Master of Urban and Regional Planning and a Master of Environment and Sustainability from the University of Michigan, and a dual Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Journalism from New York University.

Outside of her work at McKenna, Ashley is a freelance writer and journalist, and contributes to community storytelling initiatives including the APA Women in Planning Division’s Untold Stories Project, which seeks to document and amplify narratives around the leadership of women in the planning profession.
