Senior Principal Planner

Brad Misner, AICP

Brad Misner is a seasoned Urban Planner and Public Administrator with over 28 years of experience. Brad has worked for several municipalities and private sector organizations in the states of Michigan, California, and New Jersey.

Starting his career as a planner, he worked for the city of Kalamazoo, Michigan, then onto Santa Monica, California, where he worked for 18 years. These experiences led to serving as a Community Development Director for cities in the San Francisco Bay area focusing on transit-oriented developments, vertically integrated mixed-use developments, bio-tech campus developments, institutional and community use campus plans, and preparation of zoning ordinances.

As a planning consultant, he provided highly responsible planning services for Northern and Southern California clients. Returning to Michigan to join McKenna, Mr. Misner will concentrate on serving clients throughout the Midwest, specifically Southwest Michigan. He is particularly interested in collaborating with communities to assist in making strategic land use policy decisions that promote impactful placemaking, architecture, multi-modal transportation access, and ensure long-term socio-economic vitality.

Brad holds a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Group Social Science from Western Michigan University (WMU). He has continued his education in the areas of environmental review, land use law, and subdivision law through the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA). He maintains membership with the American Planning Association, where he holds a current certification in AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners).
